Shri Krupa Ambassadors

Maya Ramachandran was inculcated into the Bharatanatyam art form by her Guru Vishal Ramani at the tender age of five at the insistence of her grandmother Jyoti. She has shown immense talent and dedication to reach the important milestone of her Arangetram (solo dance debut) in six short years in July 2005. She has performed at the Kartik Fine Arts Dance Festival in Chennai (2006), did a fundraiser for the Maritime Geeta Bhavan in Canada (2007) and most recently gave a full length performance ShivaneMaya in 2010. Maya is indebted to her guru for giving her the gift of knowledge of this art form. She cherishes the opportunity to keep in touch with her culture, mythology and lineage through this art form and looks forward to contributing her bit to keep this art form alive through to the next generation. Maya can be reached at icur2nvs@gmail.com. See a sample of her dance videos at

Accolades

  • " Maya boasts a fair degree of fluency with the dance technique and a good understanding of the Hindu mythology. Her strengths are her unflagging energy and an intuitive sense of timing that sees her through the pure dance sequences with practised ease." – Rupa Srikanth, The Hindu January 2006
